training by dice roll
Probation Officer (Current Employee) –  Kingman, AZNovember 22, 2018
Training here is a random hodgepodge of disconnected whatever. Very little has anything to do with another, and scheduling is disjointed nightmare. Everything is required, nothing is timely, and vagueness is the order of that day. You can be told do to it one way, then lambasted for doing so. Every new initiative is another chance to loose your way in the labyrinthine that is that Mohave county probation department. And god forbid you ask about inconsistencies, that’s a word so close to the heart of operations, it’s incomprehensible.
Pros
flexible schedule
Cons

Treatment Coordinator/Manager (Former Employee) –  ArizonaApril 4, 2018
Tis was a good experience to serve the community and public safety. There is a lot of opportunity to grow and learn skills in several capacities. Overall a good place to work.

Not a great place to work as of 10 years ago
Deputy Probation Officer Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Kingman, AZJune 14, 2017
I have not worked at Mohave County Probation for almost 10 years. At the time I left I was happy to go and would not go back. While I enjoyed my job in terms of responsibilities and functions the culture was judgmental of the individuals we served, focused on punishment rather than rehabilitation and the management team was reminiscent of a good ol’ boy system. I felt unfairly treated by the male managers and observed favoritism at play often. That was the hardest part of the job for me. The most enjoyable part of the job was going to training where I learned how to help people.
Pros
Fair pay, good benefits
Cons
Poor management team

If you like playing games work here.
Probation Officer (Current Employee) –  Kingman, AZAugust 11, 2012
Our location mgr was fired for not taking a shooting threat from a soon to be fired employee seriously. You have a supervisor in another location getting into power struggles with all people she felt were a threat. You had a probation chief that was newly hired and was caught applying and interviewing for police chief and probation chief positions at other counties. This department isn’t open to improving or using educated staff to bring innovation. You get almost punished for improving or streamlining current practices.
Pros
i had a great job mentor/supervisor. i liked the teens i supervised.
Cons
small mindsets. people scared to lose their jobs. with hunts to fire people.
