Mark Giangreco was born on May 13, 1952, in Buffalo, New York. There is no information about his parents and early childhood. He has two siblings, Thomas Giangreco, who is a medical device consultant, and Pete Giangreco, who currently is a Democratic Party political consultant. He studied at the private Canisius High School and graduated in the 1970. After high school Mark enrolled in the University of Dayton in Ohio. He graduated in the 1974 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications.

Mark began his career during his College years. At first he joined WING-AM radio station in the 1972, it was based in Dayton, where he was studying. In the 1977 he joined to the NBC in Dayton, where he worked about a year, until he left for another position at WLKY-TV based in Louisville, Kentucky in 1978. He worked there about four years, during that time Mark served as a sports anchor and sports director. Afterwards he moved to WMAQ-TV channel in 1982, which was based in Chicago.

Being in Chicago for a long time he found a new job at the ABC7 channel in the 1994. Mark was an anchor of the sports segments. In 1982, after ten years of his career, he was also honored with the Louisville Journalism Award for his excellence in sports reporting. In the list of his awards, there is also with a prestigious 2012 Ring Lardner Award for Excellence in Sports Journalism. With a big experience he reached, Iris Award from the National Association of Television Program Executives.

He is a married man. He was dating with his longtime girlfriend Cindy and they finally married in the late 70s. His wife is a doctor.
