Why Giraffes have blue-black tongue?

Seena Babu Leave a comment

Have you ever seen a Giraffe’s tongue? Will you be surprised if we say it is blue-black in colour. Giraffe, the tallest living animal in the planet, mostly live in the tropical and subtropical regions. Thus, their tongue is exposed to Ultra Violet rays for a longer period of time. They spend most of the day eating, using their long tongue.  Melanin, which creates dark pigmentation in the skin, is responsible for giraffe tongues’ dark color.
